Medal exams are often the first step many people take in their ballroom dancing journey. Preparing for a medal exam provides students with a solid foundation and essential skills that allow them to enjoy ballroom dancing to its fullest potential.
Medal exams are structured across progressive levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold—with each stage introducing more challenging dance figures and higher expectations in technique and performance quality.
Examinations are conducted by an independent professional examiner, and students receive feedback and a score based on their performance. While we encourage all participants to attempt an exam at the end of each course, it is not mandatory. Some students choose to take the classes purely for personal growth and improvement, without sitting the exam.
For those who complete the Gold level, additional opportunities are available through Star and Oscar exams. These are personalised performances—much like a Dancing with the Stars routine—choreographed to music of the student’s choosing and tailored to showcase their individual style and strengths.
Bronze and Silver Medal Exam classes are held every Monday from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the South West Italian Club.
If you’re looking for a structured and rewarding way to develop your ballroom dancing, medal exams are a great place to start. For more details or to enrol, please contact Bunbury Dance Club.
