Ballroom dancing is a fantastic activity for children and young adults, combining fun with the development of valuable life skills. Whether it’s enjoyed as a weekly social activity or pursued more seriously with a focus on competition, ballroom dance offers a creative outlet that helps young people build coordination, cognitive ability, and social confidence.

Parents also value the structure and discipline that dance provides. With regular training, children learn perseverance, concentration, and resilience—qualities that benefit them well beyond the dance floor.

At Bunbury Dance Club, all instructors hold current Working with Children Checks issued by the Western Australian Government, ensuring a safe, professional, and supportive environment for every young dancer.

While both Jack and Joanne are passionate about working with children, Joanne has a particular gift in this area. With a background as a swimming teacher in both Australia and the UK, she brings a wealth of experience in teaching movement-based skills to children, making complex techniques accessible in both group and one-on-one settings. Ballroom dance tuition for children is available through group classes or private lessons, tailored to suit each child’s needs, interests, and goals.

We also work with schools to prepare students for special events such as formals, school balls, and social dances—helping them build confidence, presence, and ease on the dance floor.

Kids’ classes are held every Tuesday from 4:15 to 5:30 pm at the Bunbury Rowing Club.
